Akamai introduced managed AI inference and agent sandbox services. Inference provides access to open-weight and custom models through an OpenAI-compatible API, with serverless usage-based and dedicated deployment options. The sandbox uses Fermyon Spin and WebAssembly to separate generated code from the agent while limiting compute, memory, external connections and system permissions. Additional access controls remain on the roadmap. An isolation mechanism alone should not be treated as proof that every action taken by an agent is safe.
