NASA has described Artemis III as an approximately fourteen-day mission in Earth orbit in 2027 to test Orion with two commercial lunar landers. New Glenn, SLS and Starship would launch separately; Orion’s crew would enter Blue Moon to assess life support and control systems, then also dock with Starship without entering it. The plan aims to reduce risk for a 2028 lunar landing. Launch dates remain unconfirmed and depend on lander and launch-vehicle readiness.
