Users report continuing accumulation of crash reports in Codex and the integrated ChatGPT Mac app. The original issue recorded crashes in the handler itself and dump generation every second; an October follow-up reported about 323 GB and 4.04 million files across two storage paths. A separate issue also showed SIGTRAP logs from the same handler. Deleting reports only recovers space, not the underlying cause, while blocking writes also disables diagnostics. The reports do not establish a universal defect across all versions or a confirmed fix; first check size and ongoing growth in each path.

Users report hundreds of gigabytes of accumulated Codex Mac crash dumps
Storage can shrink even while the app appears functional; distinguish old dumps from files still being generated repeatedly.
