GitHub made Copilot Fusion generally available to automate model selection and orchestration. Single uses one model; Cascade evaluates an efficient model’s draft and may escalate to a stronger model; Critique has another model review a draft before the original model revises it. Users choose Standard, High or Max effort, while enterprise administrators control permitted models. Official guidance lists support on all Copilot plans in VS Code, the Copilot app and CLI, and JetBrains. Each model used is billed at its standard rate, with a temporary 30% model-cost discount for paid plans. Vendor benchmark comparisons do not guarantee savings for every task.
