Factory’s Droid 1.0 adds Script mode to its model-independent agent harness. A model writes sandboxed JavaScript to invoke tools, filter results, and run loops and checks, returning selected output rather than raw files and logs to its context. The program has no file, network, or system access of its own and uses provided tools. Factory reports a 15% cost reduction versus direct tool calling with Claude Opus 5.5 and enables the mode by default for selected models. Background execution and completion notifications are also supported, but these vendor evaluations do not guarantee savings on every task.
