Ghostty 1.4 compresses off-screen scrollback and adds animation and relative placement support for Kitty graphics. Its developers report a 70–90% reduction in physical memory for typical text-history pages and raise the default history limit from 10 MB to 50 MB. The release also fixes vulnerabilities involving paste handling, links and malicious terminal output. A scrollback memory-corruption issue was reproduced with small history limits; the application’s default setting is not known to be affected. Application users and libghostty embedders should check the release and advisory respectively for the appropriate fixed version.
