KDE Plasma 6.9 is set to enable Wayland picture-in-picture by default and remember open-window sizes and positions for each monitor arrangement. Switching between one and two screens restores the layout last used for each arrangement. Closing and reopening a window does not yet receive the same treatment. The release also adds a permanent-denial option for XWayland apps requesting keyboard and pointer control. These upcoming 6.9 features should be distinguished from fixes for the already released 6.8 and from distribution rollout timing.

These are upcoming features, and restoration does not yet cover windows closed and reopened.
