Ed Jefferson’s Local Wikipedia is an independent site that gathers Wikipedia articles about places roughly within a half-hour walk of the user’s location. It fetches geocoded entries directly and, when fewer than 25 are nearby, expands to the closest 25 within about six miles. Dense results are capped at 500 entries. The site says the location remains in the current browser and is not included in shared links. It is not affiliated with Wikipedia, and article distribution means not every result is necessarily within a 30-minute walk.

Local Wikipedia gathers articles about nearby places
It uses geocoded entries and broadens the area when nearby coverage is sparse.
