Outer Shell runs on Linux or macOS and provides graphical app installation, launching and file associations. The macOS companion Outer Loop combines SSH, Unix sockets and native-app support for tools such as file browsing, text viewing, process inspection and logs. Apps expose HTTP services on ports or sockets and register launch information and supported file types locally. Opening and editing associations are extensible, while previews support a limited set of formats. Users still need to assess remote permissions and installation requirements; this is not a complete replacement for a desktop operating system.
