Microsoft announced general availability of Windows CLAT. In the 464XLAT architecture, Windows translates IPv4-only application traffic to IPv6, while a network-side NAT64 or PLAT translates it back for IPv4 destinations. It supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet and cellular links and discovers translation prefixes through PREF64 router advertisements or DNS. Organizations can retain IPv4-dependent apps while moving toward IPv6 networks, but a client update alone does not make every network compatible. Operators need to verify the translation service, discovery configuration and real application compatibility. The official announcement does not establish a specific minimum build.
