Security researcher Mark Blaszczyk reported that a malformed WAP Push SMS can crash Android’s telephony process without user interaction and disconnect active calls. Tests cited a Pixel 9 on April 2026 firmware and some Samsung devices, with claimed emergency-call disruption, recurring outages from carrier redelivery and storage corruption after repeated messages. According to the researcher, Google ultimately classified the report as a non-security issue; no CVE was assigned. These findings are based on the disclosed research, not independent reproduction or confirmation that every Android device is affected.
