Apple documented a selfie-based option for confirming adulthood in some regions. On iOS or iPadOS 27.2 or later, users offered the option capture four facial angles; age-estimation models run on both the device and Private Cloud Compute, and results are combined on the device. Apple says the images are deleted after confirmation and are not retained in any form. Availability is not universal across countries or accounts, and another method such as a credit card or government-issued ID may be needed if the option is absent or verification fails. The key distinction is that processing is not entirely on-device.
