The atto text editor has been introduced in NetBSD’s development branch. Its manual describes modeless editing, UTF-8 support, multiple buffers and split windows. Commands include Ctrl-X followed by Ctrl-W to write a file and Ctrl-X followed by Ctrl-C to exit. The consulted documentation targets the NetBSD 11.99 development series, so inclusion in every stable release should not be assumed. It offers a small-environment editing option whose features and key bindings can be evaluated without implying that it replaces established editors.
