A Brown University student’s project maps connections between data-labeling firms, their corporate customers and delivery locations to make AI’s labor structure visible. It currently covers 13 firms, 141 customers and 31 countries, using company delivery centers as a proxy for worker locations. It is not a comprehensive industry census or a direct survey of each worker’s conditions. The creator critiques the relationship between low-paid labor in the Global South and Western profits, and hopes the map supports public education and connections among dispersed workers.
