Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends age-appropriate books each month at no cost to children from birth to age five. Inspired by her father’s inability to read, Parton started it in her home county in 1995. It now operates in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Ireland with funding shared by local partners. The program aims to provide books regardless of family income, and its official overview reports more than three million books mailed monthly. It is neither a newly launched initiative nor a service available to every address worldwide, including South Korea.
