A public experiment asked Fable 5.1 to encode short messages as SVG images, converted them to PNG and tested recovery in fresh sessions. With Python tools, 39 of 50 examples across 15 languages met the author’s success criteria, compared with six without tools. Observed schemes included representing characters through height. Prompts and results are public, but this is not an independent replication or evidence that the model spontaneously hid its reasoning or communicated covertly without instruction.

Fable 5.1 image-message experiment depends on tool access
Prompted message encoding and recovery do not demonstrate spontaneous covert communication.
