Google introduced native Markdown support in Docs and Drive. Uploading an .md file to Drive and opening it in Docs enables co-editing, comments, suggestions and version history without conversion to another format. Drive offers formatted previews, including tables and links, with a raw-text view. The feature is available to personal Google and Workspace accounts. It simplifies technical-document collaboration with non-developers, but the announcement does not promise automatic Git synchronization or identical handling of every Markdown extension.
