Google introduced a preview Linux terminal for development and AI work on Googlebook. Python, Node.js, Git, SSH, and other tools run in a Debian virtual machine, with local servers accessible through the host browser. Folders are shared only with user permission, and host files can remain intact when the virtual machine is reset. Isolation protects the host and unshared files; it does not make shared files unconditionally safe. Linux GUI apps, USB connections, dynamic resource scaling, and GPU and NPU acceleration are listed for future support.
