Georgia Tech’s ORISA reconstructs sessions from deleted conversation traces in the memory of local Android AI apps. Researchers tested 10 apps, three models and 60 configurations. In one experiment with 100 fictional facts, a restored session returned 26 facts compared with 14 accessible in the original active context. This does not mean every conversation can be fully recovered or that cloud chatbots share the same exposure. Forensic access to device data is required, and overwritten memory is harder to recover. Local processing and deleting a visible chat should not be treated as complete data erasure.
