Anna Liberty’s account of four months building Zig projects praises explicit allocators and I/O parameters, comptime and the build system. Exposing memory use and external effects made it easier to inject failure conditions in tests and keep dependencies under control. Frequent standard-library changes, sparse documentation, limited lifetime-error detection and distribution-packaging constraints remained drawbacks. This is a personal development experience, not a general benchmark against Rust; the author still chooses Rust when project stability is essential.

Four months with Zig highlights explicit resources and stability tradeoffs
Allocator and I/O parameters help expose behavior, while evolving libraries and sparse documentation still impose costs.
