In a randomized study of 97 adults averaging 74 years old, a 12-week program of four strength movements performed for 30 seconds each with 30-second rests improved chair-rise and balance measures. Wall push-ups, chair rises, band pulls and step-ups were adapted to ability. The approach may lower barriers for inactive older adults, but does not show that four minutes meets every activity need or reduces actual falls. People with unstable balance or pain should adjust support and difficulty for a safe start.
