A study following about 486,000 adults for roughly nine years observed around 11% lower relative vascular-disease risk among regular tea drinkers. Some analyses estimated the lowest risk at six to eight cups daily, but intake was recorded only once and cup size was not standardized. These findings neither prove prevention nor define a recommended dose. Rather than sharply increasing intake for health reasons, a reasonable interpretation is to avoid scalding-hot drinks and consider smoking, activity and the wider lifestyle.

Tea study does not prescribe six to eight cups a day
An association with lower vascular risk does not separate cup size and other lifestyle influences.
