The map-engine developers released earstrip as an ISC-licensed C++ header and WebAssembly package combining ear clipping with triangle strips. On one Apple M4 Pro core, it processed 3.74 million map polygons in 489 ms, versus 2,931 ms for the previous Delaunay implementation. That does not mean it is six times faster than Earcut: separate repository measurements report 490 ms versus 552 ms for the native implementations. Reflex-vertex checks and spatial partitioning reduce work, while complex or invalid boundaries retain a Delaunay fallback. These figures apply to the particular map dataset and execution conditions tested.
