Google’s Gemini API CLI is a standalone binary for macOS, Linux, and Windows that connects model calls, media generation, file analysis, and managed-agent execution. Existing shell-based agents such as Codex or Claude Code can select a model, run a command, and continue with returned file paths or interaction IDs. The official repository documents request-schema discovery, JSON output, and dry-run validation without network calls. The calling agent retains responsibility for conversation state and next-step decisions. The tool is an experimental release under Apache 2.0.
