Getty Images reportedly agreed a restructuring plan with creditors and investors, intending to enter a prepackaged Chapter 11 process within weeks and become privately held by year-end. Subject to court approval, Getty family interests and KED would acquire equity and invest up to $533 million, while unsecured debt would be reduced by $270 million. The company said content delivery and payments to partners would continue. With about $2.1 billion of debt at the end of June and failed merger discussions also involved, generative AI cannot be treated as the sole cause, nor the restructuring as already complete.
