Removal updates for Publisher in Microsoft 365 began October 1, after which users will no longer be able to open or edit files in it. Official guidance distinguishes perpetual-license editions: support ends October 13, but installation and use can continue. Files to preserve should be exported from an available Publisher installation to PDF, with migration to Word or other tools if editing is needed. Converting PDFs to Word can alter complex layouts, and the official batch-conversion script also requires a working, properly licensed Publisher installation.
