MongoDB made version 9 generally available and introduced Atlas Infinite, which separates storage and compute resources, in public preview on AWS. Infinite aims to provide automatic scaling and usage-based billing for rapidly changing agent traffic. MongoDB 9 also expands prefix, suffix, and substring searches on encrypted data and adds OpenTelemetry integration and workload-protection features. The vendor’s reported search and update gains are internal comparisons and should be reassessed against an existing service’s latency, costs, and encryption requirements.
