David Lequin reports that eight months after introducing static HTML dashboards at a roughly 500-person company, weekly usage matched Looker’s while Looker usage fell by about a third. The system builds on Snowflake and around 2,000 dbt models, with AI producing drafts and humans approving publication. An early same-origin JavaScript design created security risks, prompting isolated iframes and short-lived access tokens. This is one organization’s migration experience, supported by established data infrastructure and engineering capacity, rather than proof that commercial BI is universally obsolete.
