Tesla plans to launch a new CHAdeMO adapter in Japan in January 2027 with support for up to 130 kW, compared with the older adapter’s 50 kW ceiling. It is intended to make Japan’s roughly 14,000 CHAdeMO chargers more useful as faster charging alternatives. Tesla’s official Japanese announcement also introduced the new CHAdeMO adapter alongside an external-power adapter. The 130 kW figure is a maximum rating: actual output depends on the vehicle, battery condition and charger. The announcement does not mean sales have already begun or that vehicles outside Japan will receive it on the same schedule.
