Google introduced Agent Compute Engine, which gives each AI agent a hardware-isolated microVM. It uses Titanium-based isolation and fast suspension and resumption, has been used for Gemini, and was announced for a future external preview. The accompanying Agent Substrate provides an architecture for managing agent execution on Kubernetes. The company presented high density and large-scale suspension and resumption performance, but those measurements reflect its own conditions. The focus is on managing environment lifecycles, identities, and token paths rather than simply starting many processes.
