Tesla set a late-2027 target for delivering Optimus to external customers while saying that hand durability and AI training remain difficult. An earlier announcement that initial production-quality units had entered production did not mean mass customer deliveries were imminent. The company described a plan to build 10,000 to 20,000 robots for training on varied tasks and has begun building an Austin factory intended to produce more than Fremont. It did not disclose confirmed production capacity or an opening date for Austin. Progress at the two factories and management’s long-term targets should be distinguished from actual shipments.
