The FCC voted on October 29 to advance consultation on expanding direct-to-device satellite eligibility from five bands to thirteen, covering 482 MHz under consideration. The action is a proposal, not a final rule or an individual operator authorization. In a separate filing, SpaceX argued that T-Mobile’s proposed protection standard could create roughly 400-kilometer exclusion zones and sought a different long-term measurement approach. That is an operator’s projection, not an observed outage. The completed vote is new relative to earlier previews, while final regulatory terms remain pending.
