Tesla described plans to introduce its own AI-based mapping and navigation architecture starting with FSD v15. It intends first to improve routing as a vehicle departs or arrives at a destination, then expand over the following months to directions, parking, and other functions. It treats the ability to drive using existing vehicles’ visual perception separately from the problem of choosing a suitable route to the destination. The timing is management’s rollout plan and does not mean every feature will arrive together on v15’s first day. Possible future uses should not be treated as mapping functions already implemented.
