Fort Bend County, Texas, has approved four tax agreements for Tesla’s proposed large-scale solar cell and module factory. The proposal includes a site of about 3,000 acres, approximately 9,700 jobs by 2033, and a production target of 2029. However, the company’s final site selection and state-level conditions remain unresolved. The tax incentive decision is one step in attracting investment and does not mean the proposed jobs or production already exist. The question is whether this expansion of US manufacturing, separate from the existing solar business, proceeds to actual construction and equipment orders.
